Girls’ Volleyball beats Castilleja in CCS Quarter Finals
The Girls’ Varsity Volleyball team beat Castilleja three sets to one in the quarter finals of the Division IV Central Coast Section (CCS) Championships.
During the first set, the Eagles fell behind early on and were unable to recover, losing 25-21.The second set set the pace for the remainder of the games as Harker’s team quickly took control of the scoreboard winning the set 25-13. The third set followed a similar pattern, with the Eagles winning 25-11.
The final set came close, before the Eagles pulled away at the last few moments to win 25-19, winning the game.
Students, faculty, and parents all came out to support the team. The stadiums were filled with green and white pompoms, whistles, and cheers whenever the Eagles scored a point.
Previous matches against Castilleja include both a win and a loss earlier in the season.
Last season, the team made it to CCS but lost in semifinals to Harbor High School. The team celebrated their win after the game.
“This is great!” said Katy Sanchez (11). “Last year we played in semifinals [and lost] so hopefully it’s a better outcome this time and we go to finals.”
The next round will take place on Wednesday against Menlo School at Notre Dame Belmont.
