Mind the gap is a phrase coined in the UK to caution passengers while crossing the horizontal, and sometimes vertical, gap between the train platform and the actual train. Bing Lius debut documentary, Minding the Gap, is a play on this idea, that in America we have to both physically, and mentally, bridge the gap between class, race, and people in general.
