On Friday, March 23, the Varsity Girls Lacrosse team defeated Notre Dame 16-11 in their first league game of the season.

The win, which boosted the team’s season record to 3-2, was the first time Girls Lacrosse has defeated Notre Dame.

“This feels really good, because in all years I’ve been playing here we’ve been beaten by this team,” senior Samantha Walker said. “We were able to come together, though. This is monumental.”
Christine Lee (10), who earned the game ball for her performance as goalie, agreed that the team’s performance was outstanding: “It was intense, but we did really well. Go Eagles!” Christine said.

The Eagles gained an early 9-4 lead and stayed on top by 5 goals throughout most of the game despite a late rally attempt by Notre Dame.

“What a heck of a game it was. We’re going to play them two more times and they’ll be coming for us. We’re going to make sure we’re prepared and I expect we will be,” Head Coach Andrew Irvine said.

The team’s next home game is a league match against Mercy High School – Burlingame next Friday, March 30.
