On Friday January 20, sophomores headed to Bucknall for the second gathering with their third grade Eagle Buddies, themed “Pajama Day.”

While the other classmates are attending their various separate LIFE assemblies, the sophomores had the chance to “hang out with [their] Eagle Buddies…[in] their pajamas,” said Akash Chandani (10).

Sophomore Dean Dr. Victor Adler felt the outing was an excellent way for the Upper School students to interact and bond with the Lower School community.

“The third graders adore their big buddies,” he said. “As we entered the gym, one third grade girl sees her big buddy, Callie Ding (10), and yells, ‘Callie!’ and runs over to take Callie to her spot. It doesn’t get much better than that.”

Dr. Adler added that the sophomores enjoy the experience just as much as the younger children do.

“It seems to me that the sophomores enjoy being a little kid again,” he said. “I have been extremely impressed by our upper school students and their interaction with the Bucknallers.”

Sophomore Lea Daran enjoys the Eagle Buddies trips and thought bringing either pajamas or new books to donate was interesting as well.

“There’s a table for arts and crafts, [and] we get to play in the Bucknall campus,” she said. “Its pajama day for them, so we get to wear pajamas too.”

Many sophomores agreed that they look forward to the next LIFE opportunity to spend time with their third grade Eagle Buddies.
