Varsity boys basketball won against Crystal Springs Uplands with a score of 71-29 at the Blackford gym yesterday at 6:30 p.m.

They maintained a strong lead throughout the entire game, with a score of 45-16 after the second quarter.

The team’s head coach, Butch Keller, felt that Crystal Springs Uplands had not had a great season, hence the large difference between the scores.

“We just needed a win at this point,” he said.”We’ve lost some close games, and we just really focused on defense, and I think we played very well. We held on to not very many points, so I was pleased with that.”

Eric Jeong (10), a point guard, discusses the main strengths and weaknesses of this game.

“I think we pressured the guards pretty well and offensively we got a lot of shots that we were looking for,” he said. “I think we played a pretty good game overall. We have to work on our shooting, getting it over the rim, and I think we’ll be good.”

This is their 13th game and fourth win in the league season so far, and they are currently ranked seventh in the league of eight teams. This brings their overall season record to 12-11. Crystal Springs Uplands is ranked eighth with a league record of 0-13 and an overall record of 7-16.

Their next game is against Menlo School on Friday at 6:30 p.m. in the Blackford Gym. It will be their final league game in the season as well as the boys’ senior night.
